Pile of Old Rocks #1 (aka Old Structures that Happen to Be Famous)

📝  We went to Jerusalem and went to a church there called the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.  It is where Christians believe that Jesus was either  buried, or crucified and buried. It is a very interesting church.  The church is split into several parts. I do not know much about them yet, but we will go back.

First you walk into a large room with a dome on top. The dome is covered with beautiful mosaics so are some of the walls. In the middle of that room is a flat rock that is believed to be the rock Jesus was layed to rest on. People surround the rock praying. Many people kissed the rock. Then there is a cave right off that room it is supposed to be the cave where Jesus's tomb was placed. The next room is a Greek Catholic chapel along with wall hangings (icons) and something in the middle of the room where people were praying. I do not know what it was where they were praying.

A lot of women covered part of their hair with a scarf while praying. Some people were just touring the church.  Others were there to pray.  There were groups of elderly women all over the church.  They had lots of canes and scarfs.  There were groups of Asian tourists.  There were quite a large amount of tourists from the Americans.  I heard French, Arabic, English,Greek, Italian, Hebrew, and several other languages that I did not know or could not quite hear. I saw people taking pictures, people working (a nun cleaning up bird droppings, a priest (not sure what he was doing, as Eva would stay, "probably stuff"), lots of tour guides), and quite a few young children who had had enough of praying/looking at things.

By the way, this church is old ⛪️.
